American Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with California State Parks is seeking one Digital Data and Multimedia Collections Intern to support quality control of database records alongside California State Parks Cultural Resources Division Staff.

Duration: 26 weeks.
Location Details/Description: This position is based out of the California State Parks Cultural Resources Division in McClellan Park, CA (North Sacramento).
Public transportation to the office is limited, so access to a personal vehicle is highly recommended.
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Research Data Supervisor I, the ACE Digital Data and Multimedia Collections Program Intern will assist the Statewide Museum Collections Database Administrator in performing quality control of database records in preparation for the implementation of a statewide online collections platform. The intern will update and standardize museum database records in support of Tribal Lands Program projects in the database (The Museum System – TMS) based on standards set by the database administrator. This will include scanning documents and updating media records in the database and coordinating with collections managers to reconcile museum database records. This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups.
Schedule: Monday through Friday with 8 hour days.
Position Benefits
Living Allowance: The ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $880/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly. The living allowance is a fixed rate determined by the California State Parks and ACE and is not flexible.
Housing: Housing is the responsibility of the member and not provided by ACE or California State Parks.
Provided Training/Orientation: ACE members will receive position specific training and an orientation outlining ACE policies and procedures, clear guidance on prohibited activities, and networks for support. Specific training may include Privacy and Security Awareness Trainings and Fundamentals of Workplace Awareness along with training on the CalState museum collections database.
Qualifications
Required:
- Members must be authorized to work in the United States. ACE does not provide sponsorship for employment visas.
- Willing and able to represent ACE and California State Parks in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner.
- Ability to be both self-directed/work alone, and be a positive, contributing member of a group.
- Willing to undergo and must pass the required criminal history checks.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- ACE Members will need to complete bi-weekly timesheets, beginning of term feedback forms, end of term evaluations and for longer terms, a mid-term evaluation.

Preferred:
- Enthusiasm and understanding of general museum and collections processes.
- Ability to engage in detail-oriented work.
- Deep interest in learning about cultural resource management.
Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other office equipment. Required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch.
- Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
- Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently moves up to 10 lbs., ability to move up to 20 pounds.
- Environmental: Indoor conditions.
- Noise Environment: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
Environmental Conditions/Hazards: The member is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow staff/members or resources.
