American Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Eastern States Office, is seeking TWO Park Ranger Aids to contribute to assisting the ONA Manager with site management, interpretive/educational outreach and recreation planning, permit management, NEPA and related workloads.

Location Details/Description Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area, Florida.
The 120-acre ONA is in southeast Florida, in the northern portion of Palm Beach County and is managed by the BLM Southeastern States Field Office in Flowood, Mississippi. The site is located at the confluence of the Indian River Lagoon and Loxahatchee River within the municipalities of the Town of Jupiter and the Village of Tequesta. These cities make up the northern extent of an urban environment that stretches south to Miami providing all the amenities that can be expected from such urban environments. North of the site is a gap in Florida's urban coast, through the Jonathan Dickinson State Park and Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, before the urban setting continues north.

Position Overview:
This ACE internship is multi-faceted, adaptable, and geared toward providing valuable professional experience in the land-management field. The Park Range Aid Internship will involve site management, maintenance, and interpretive, educational, and outreach work aimed at engaging local community members and the public on natural and historic resource topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Management: Perform various management activities, including site and facility maintenance, to support public access and recreation while balancing these needs with resource protection.
- Monitoring and Inventory: Participate in biological/ecological or cultural inventory and monitoring, contributing to site planning and management objectives.
- Develop Educational Programs: Create educational interpretive programs and materials related to the natural, cultural, historic, and recreational aspects of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area.
- Outreach and Engagement: Design and implement outreach programs to enhance visitors' understanding of the area's resources and promote responsible park use, including "Leave No Trace" principles and safety for park visitors.
- Content Creation: Develop social media and web content to disseminate information and increase awareness of the site's offerings and regulations.
- Recreation Permits and Compliance: Assist in the processing of recreation permits and NEPA compliance documents related to park activities.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position will be a talented, well-rounded, enthusiastic, adaptable, and resourceful young professional interested in pursuing a career in public land management. A demonstrated interest and/or education in natural resource management, interpretation, and outreach is preferred, although all qualified applicants will receive careful consideration.
This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups.
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:00am - 3:30pm with some availability on weekends.
Position Benefits
Living Allowance: The ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $800/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly.
Public Land Corps Hiring Authority: Members serving under this agreement may be eligible for a federal hiring authority upon completion of their term of service and 640 hours of service. If the duration of a PLC-eligible term is not long enough for Members to accrue 640 hours of service (~16 weeks), the total hours served at the completion of the term may be eligible to be combined with hours accrued from another PLC-eligible term to meet the 640 hours requirement. PLC projects also include specific eligibility requirements such as age and citizenship. Housing: ACE members will be accommodated in provided housing at no cost for the duration of the term.
Provided Training/Orientation: ACE members will receive position specific training and an orientation outlining ACE policies and procedures, clear guidance on prohibited activities, and networks for support.
Qualifications
Required:
- Members must be authorized to work in the United States. ACE does not provide sponsorship for employment visas.
- Willing and able to represent ACE and the partner organization in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner.
- Ability to be both self-directed/work alone, and be a positive, contributing member of a group.
- A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record (documentation to be provided upon request). Members must be 21+ to drive due to ACE's insurance and liability requirements.
- Willing to undergo and must pass the required criminal history checks
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- ACE Members will need to complete bi-weekly timesheets, beginning of term feedback forms, end of term evaluations and for longer terms, a mid-term evaluation.

Preferred:
- Love of the outdoors, working outside, and appreciation of natural and cultural resources.
- Excellent writing, research, and organizational skills.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
- Experience and willingness to complete a wide variety of maintenance tasks from trail work, to trash pick-up and restroom cleaning.
- Interest and experience in photography.
- Experience using Facebook and/or other social media.
- Experience creating outreach media using Canva, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.
- Knowledge & skills in the principles of education, interpretation, outreach or public relations.
- Ability to envision the goal, and develop and complete projects independently to achieve the goal.
- Knowledge of, or familiarity with, the local area is also helpful, including knowledge of Florida native and invasive species.
- Ability to swim, snorkel, kayak and/or paddleboard.
Environmental Conditions/Hazards: The ACE member(s) may encounter environmental conditions/hazards including extreme heat, rocky terrain, swamp or wetland conditions, biting insects, and potentially dangerous wildlife. The member is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow staff/members or resources.
Vehicle and Equipment Use/Safety: If a vehicle is required for the accomplishment of the duties, one will be provided by the BLM or ACE. Any tools required for the accomplishment of the duties will be provided by the BLM. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), typically provided by the BLM, will be mandatory for any activity that requires it. Strict adherence to BLM and ACE equipment training, certification and safety protocols is required.
