Location Details/Description: Yosemite National Park, California / National Park Service Housing will be provided near assigned duty station in El Portal appx. 12 miles from the Arch Rock Entrance The intern will work in various districts of the park throughout their term, occasional travel may be approved.

Position Overview:
The Yosemite Wellness Program is an exciting, ground-breaking opportunity that will involve a variety of high-level duties related to DEIA and Wellness initiatives at Yosemite National Park. This position works for the park's Safety, Health, and Wellness Office within the park's Wellness Program as a component of Psychological Safety. The member's primary duties will be to support the parks DEIA Council and DEIA & Wellness Program -related park initiatives. The position was first created in 2022, with the primary goal of creating more support for the Park's DEIA Council - a group of passionate employees working on DEI initiatives as a collateral duty and has been adapted to meet the needs of a growing program. Since then, this position, as well as the program has evolved. The Yosemite Wellness Program Member's main responsibility is the management of the Park's Employee Resource Groups. The Member supports these groups through administrative support and planning a multitude of cultural events and affinity space mixers. There are currently active ERGs supporting the following communities: LGBTQ+, Womxn, BIPOC, and Veterans, the member will also work in tandem with the Wellness Coalition. The member facilitates the continued growth and success of these groups through member recruitment, resource development, and logistical support. Another main responsibility of the member is taking lead on and contributing to the Yosemite (Wellness & DEI) Community Newsletter, which is created and distributed monthly to all employees, park partners, and community members, with the goal of promoting events and trainings, and increasing the wider community's fluency around DEI topics.
Primary Duties
- Data management: Develop program data collection and tracking process
- Support and collaborate with park leaders to implement, execute, and monitor progress on DEI strategic planning initiatives, with the DEI Council Charter as a guide.
- Schedule, facilitate and promote meetings, trainings, orientations, events and workshops that support both support internal and external audiences.
- Serve on all Yosemite Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
- Establish and support communication channels and strategic planning between Yosemite Employee Resource Groups.
- Develop newsletters, flyers and other outreach and promotional materials
- Communicate with park leaders, park partner organizations, mentor program, human resources, the volunteer program, and others, on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Facilitate meetings and dialogue events to promote inclusive practice in the workforce.
- Plan and execute initiatives designed to improve recruitment, belonging, and retention for a diverse staff.
- Serve as a resource and point of contact for organizational needs and inquiries on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as related training topics.
- Research and share best practices for ERGs to address common challenges related to cultural competence, identity, social differences, and inequality
Schedule: 40 hours a week. Hours will vary throughout the term including nights and weekends. Schedule is flexible depending on program and intern needs. California / Pacific Standard Time
Member will have the option to work 5 days a week or 5-4-9- schedule for 9 hour shifts with rotating 2-3 day weekends.
Position Benefits
Living Allowance: The ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $900]/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly.
Housing: ACE members will be accommodated in provided housing at no cost to the intern] for the duration of the term.
Provided Training/Orientation: ACE members will receive position specific training and an orientation outlining ACE policies and procedures, clear guidance on prohibited activities, and networks for support. Specific training may include: Trainings relevant to the Intern's Individual Development Plan.
Qualifications
Required:
- Members must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident, as required by U.S. government contracts
- Willing and able to represent ACE and the partner organization in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner.
- Ability to be both self-directed/work alone, and be a positive, contributing member of a group.
- A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record (documentation to be provided upon request).
- Willing to undergo and must pass the required criminal history checks
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- ACE Members will need to complete bi-weekly timesheets, beginning of term feedback forms, end of term evaluations and for longer terms, a mid-term evaluation.

Preferred:
- Competitive applicants for this position can hold or be pursuing a Sociology, Psychology, Human Resources, Volunteer Management, Education, Environmental Studies, Communications, Comparative American Studies, or other related field. and/or have relevant experience in subject areas such as Social Justice, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, General Psychological Safety Principles.
- Knowledge of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion best practices, conflict resolution, data management and spreadsheets, communications, event planning, generally organized.
- Ability and willingness to learn and adapt, presentations and trainings.
- Deep interest in social justice, equity and policy.
Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, hiking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing]. Manual dexterity required for use of various tools, computer keyboard/mouse and other office equipment. Required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch. Ability to hike over rough terrain.
- Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
- Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently moves up to 15 lbs., ability to move up to 50lbs.
- Environmental: Outdoor and indoor conditions. Work environment conditions can change frequently; working under adverse weather conditions and in various climates. [Mainly indoor, office environment conditions; indoor air quality is good and temperature is controlled.
- Noise Environment: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
- Travel: This position may have domestic travel opportunities.
Environmental Conditions/Hazards: The ACE member(s) may encounter environmental conditions/hazards including extreme heat or cold, rocky terrain, biting insects, and potentially dangerous wildlife. The member is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow staff/members or resources.
Vehicle and Equipment Use/Safety: If a vehicle is required for the accomplishment of the duties, one will be provided by the National Park Service. Any tools required for the accomplishment of the duties will be provided by the National Park Service. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), typically provided by the National Park Service, will be mandatory for any activity that requires it. Strict adherence to National Park Service and ACE equipment training, certification and safety protocols is required.
